Silk Rd is set for a fortnight of culinary celebrations with the launch of its new Children’s Menu.
With locations in Liverpool’s Beetham Plaza and Telegraph Road, Heswall, Silk Rd will be adding a child-friendly menu to its foodie offerings, making it the ideal venue for a family occasion.
To coincide with the menu launch, both sites will also be hosting a number of ‘culinary celebrations’ from Thursday, March 29 – Sunday, April 8 including kid’s workshops on how to make pizzas, spring rolls and even healthy smoothies.
Owner Chris Williams said: “Here at Silk Rd, we are all about creating a venue for everybody to enjoy which is why it was so important to us to create a Children’s Menu that is nutritious, adventurous and tasty. By encouraging youngsters to learn about the Silk Road trail, including its unique, cultural history, we aim to introduce them to cuisines from all around the world. With dishes from countries including Greece, India and Egypt to name a few, it’s a great chance for families to try something new and exciting each time they visit us.
“In line with the addition of the new menu, we’ll also be opening our doors throughout the Easter school holidays to offer a range of free, educational daily activities for children and their families to participate in. We’re encouraging youngsters from age 4-10 to don their chef’s hats and join us to get hands on in making their very own pizzas, spring rolls and healthy smoothies following recipes from across the Silk Road.”
Silk Rd’s Children’s menu includes starters such as Prawn Crackers and Pitta & Hummus followed by mains including Pad Thai, Chicken Satay, Meatballs and Fish Goujons to name a few.
Owner Javier Mellado added: “In line with the launch of the Children’s Menu, we have formed a charitable affiliation with the Welsh Mountain Zoo to donate a percentage of every children’s meal sold at each of our sites directly to the cause. The zoo is currently running a charitable scheme aptly named ‘The Silk Road Project’, which aims to build state-of-the-art accommodation for one of the world’s most vulnerable big cat species, the snow leopard, while forging connections with China, the world’s most important growth economy. It’s a great feeling to not only offer our diners great tastes across all of our dishes, but a real feel-good factor when dining with us, too.”
Administration and Operations Director at the Welsh Mountain Zoo Jennifer Jesse explained: “There is an obvious synergy between ourselves and the Silk Rd restaurant and we are of course delighted that the guys there are keen to support the campaign. Their involvement is incredibly generous and diners should be pleased that they have contributed to creating a very unique and special enclosure for our fantastic snow leopards.”
