Liverpool Filmmakers ‘Page 28 Studios’ Set For Bright Future

The filmmakers at Page 28 are one of the fresh new enterprises making up Merseyside’s vibrant creative sector. The three partners in the company met at Liverpool Hope University and decided to take their passion for film and production forward into their working lives.

Abby Wooley, Producer and Business Manager, said:We’ve been working together since 2010 so creating our business was really just us officially cementing a partnership that had been in action for 5 years.”

Shaun Daly, Director and Lead Cinematographer at Page 28, has recently written and directed the company’s first creative short film called “Inheritance”. It deals with an elderly gangster and his plans to find redemption with the help of his long-lost daughter.

The film was recently shown on Bay TV, at the Liverpool International Film Festival and a private screening at Frederik’s on Hope Street.

He said, of his university experience: “I took to those subjects and enjoyed them immensely, understanding all the different things that go on behind the scenes, specifically in film. It was at that point, I knew I wanted to be a filmmaker.”

Chief Editor and Animator Colt Candeias is currently producing an animation called Wall of Mud, a symbolic representation of a boy with autism, who finds mental barriers thwart his attempts to fit into the society around him. As Colt Candeias has autism, he chose to express his experiences using animation – his favourite creative medium.

He said: “Originally, I wanted to be an actor but I didn’t have the experience, yet I developed a skill and interest in film editing at college so I followed the path of working behind the camera instead of in front of it.”

Page 28 have always used creative marketing for their enterprise and are working on a music video for band ‘This Time Last Week’. The band won the shoot for their single ‘The One That Got Away’ in a competition run by the company. The trio are also working on a number of other projects including filming two events for Young DaDaFest 2016, a disability arts organisation promoting disability and deaf arts from a distinctive cultural viewpoint.

The future looks bright for the talented media creatives at Page 28. The company has only officially existed since April 2016, so their resume is impressive. Currently working on location with editing done at their home studios, the company hopes to rent a more formal space in the near future.

There are plans to develop further scripts and the Page 28 plan to release another short film soon, whilst continuing to increase their client base.

They have a company Vlog series ‘The Cutting Room Floor’ which posts regularly on their Youtube and  Facebook  pages, looking at what goes on behind the scenes.
