Liverpool Comedy Festival’s ‘Funny Looking Fringe’ Launches This Week At 81 Renshaw Street

Bido Lito! – the Liverpool music magazine is helping launch Liverpool Comedy’s Funny Looking Fringe Festival this September. The free event at arts café 81 Renshaw will consist of tasters from various acts from the fortnight-long festival and music from A Lovely War and Cliff Buddle.

Funny Looking Fringe takes place from 15th September-2nd October with acts from all over the UK hand-picked by curator and podcaster Gav Cross. There is also local representation from the likes of Top Joe, Terry Arlarse, Thaddeus Bent and Hannah Jones.

Running parallel to Liverpool Comedy Festival, Funny Looking Fringe looks to bring the best in alternative comedy to Liverpool with award-nominated comedians, rising Edinburgh stars and Stewart Lee support acts amongst the bill.

The launch event with Bido Lito! will be a party to showcase some of the comedy talent which will be animating 81 Renshaw in the weeks ahead and music from the highly-rated surf croon duo Her’s.

Amongst the array of acts which will descend on Liverpool are BBC New Comedy Award winner Liam Pickford, League of Gentlemen favourites and stars of their own BBC Radio series Gein’s Family Gift Shop, Chortle Award-nominee Laura Lexx, Fosters Award winner Will Duggan as well Stewart Lee-endorsed Rasputin’s Lunchbox.

Home-grown talent includes: Top Joe who will be hosting his bid to get a new word into the Oxford English Dictionary, both halves of the highly rated duo Legion Of Doom performing their solo shows, Alastair Clark exploring daftness and nihilism while Hannah Jones revisits her school days.

Over 40 acts will be packed into the intimate confines of 81 Renshaw Street over the course of the festival, bringing anarchy, philosophy, politics but mostly silliness.

Liverpool Comedy Festival takes place across various venues from 16th September – 2nd October with headliners including Romesh Ranganathan, Tiff Stephenson and Simon Munnery.

Tickets for all events are available from http://funnylooking.co.uk/fringe/ with concessions available as well as multi-ticket deals and discount initiatives.
