Formby Hall’s Magical £2.4million Makeover Unveiled

Earlier this week we were lucky enough to be on the 150-strong guestlist for the grand revealing of the brand new Formby Hall Golf Resort and Spa. As an internationally recognised golfing destination and luxury spa sanctuary, Formby Hall is a bit of a local legend already so we were chomping at the bit to see what magic a £2.4million makeover could conjure. Let me tell ya, we weren’t disappointed.

Complete with red carpet, champagne reception and perfect Summer-time background music from the dapperly-clad, Gypsies of Bohemia, the launch was a wonderful taste of what’s to come. We were promptly shown around the 14 new loft bedrooms, stunning Espa spa and newly revamped leisure facilities which include a heated swimming pool, aromatherapy steam room as well as traditional saunas and rainforest showers. If you’re a keen golfer, there’s even more in the way of sporting facilities for you now too.

All I can say is it’s a good job we had our guided tour around the gorgeous, 4-star venue early on in the evening because our gin balloons were never empty and our mouths never once stopped munching! If we weren’t learning about garnishes at the Gin Bar we were greedily picking from yet another plate of tasty (and perfectly presented) morsels at the terrace BBQ.

So if the quality of cocktails and the positively mouth-watering standard of canapes on the night were anything to go by then the newly refurbished Fairway Grill is going to be one to watch for sure. I could have sat and ate those mini butternut squash risottos and those goats’ cheese and onion chutney cups all night. Delicious. Oh and don’t get me started on Formby Gin…

Formby Gin is one of the many locally-sourced products that the Fairway Grill restaurant has to offer, along with the town’s most famous food-based export – Formby asparagus. Head Chef, Tony Hargreaves wanted to bring as much local produce to the stylish eatery as possible and with red squirrel pie off the menu, the natural alternatives were a locally distilled gin and fresh vegetables.

It was a fabulous event in a fabulous place and I can’t wait to get back there for a dip in the pool and a slap up three-courser at the Fairway Grill. If you manage to get there before us, give us a shout @Liverpool_Noise and let us know what you think.
