Archie’s Burgers & Shakes; Review

Archie’s is the latest burger joint to shake up the Liverpool food scene – a pink paradise of extravagant burgers and decadent milkshakes – and last week I was lucky enough to try it out.

Perched on the corner of Ranelagh Street, it’s the third venue in the Archie’s family (there are already two well-established restaurants in Manchester) but this is the first one outside of the M60, and also the biggest. And it’s not your stereotypical American diner.

Pink, pink, & more pink

The first thing you’ll notice is that the decor at Archie’s is VERY pink. It’s hard to miss when you walk past and even though the format of the restaurant is not dissimilar to a normal fast food restaurant, it’s definitely on the trendier side – much like the other independent eateries that populate the Bold Street end of Liverpool.

Archie's Liverpool Shakes

When you walk in you’ll notice the layout is pretty much like any other fast food joint where you order at the counter – perfect for anyone picking up something quick to eat before catching the train at Central. But upstairs you’ll find a much larger seating area with bigger tables and booths that’s great for catch-ups with friends.

Good value food with a great atmosphere

The classic burgers are all reasonably priced with a wide range of classic burgers costing between £1.69 and £5.99. There’s something for every taste and budget with the “Average Joe” to satisfy your cheeseburger cravings as well as a peri peri chicken burger, fish fillets and bean burgers.

And if you fancy treating yourself, for a little extra you can go for a top of the range star burger. Each one is handmade to order and served on a brioche bun with more extravagant toppings.

Unmissable milkshakes

Whatever you do, don’t leave Archie’s without trying a milkshake or a smoothie – they’re famous for them and this is hands down one of the best places to get a milkshake in Liverpool. With so many flavours on offer, it’ll probably take you quite a while to choose what you want so have a gander at their menu here.

I tried “The Devil” (banana, nutella, whipped cream and Cadbury’s flake) and true to its name it was dangerously good!

Archie’s is open until 2am so whether you’re popping in after a day of shopping or grabbing something to eat after a night of clubbing in Concert Square, it’s perfect.
